Water is available to standpipes and tanks all over the site. Taps are threaded to accept standard hose fittings (see picture). The water is turned off before the first frosts, usually at the beginning of November, and turned on in March, frosts permitting. The water is metered and paid for out of allotment funds.

  1. If using a hose it must be fitted with a hand operated cut-off (e.g. spray gun).
  2. Hoses may be used to water crops but for no more than 30 minutes at a time.
  3. Do not leave taps running unnecessarily and be careful to close fully when not in use. Faulty taps should be reported to the water monitor.
  4. If drawing water from the tank, please refill the tank after use and re-instate the protective mesh cover.
